We wanted for so long to visit Petra and this year we had the chance to do it. We had two days to visit the famous city. Historical facts The history of the Ancient city of Petra dates back to 300 BC. Back then it was one of the richest and largest cities in the world. It all began with the Nabateans, a desert Bedouin tribe, very skilled in commerce. They took advantage of the trade route between Asia and Europe. And transformed the place to a great hub for endless caravans transporting frankincense, myrrh, and spices. Hidden in a huge canyon of red stone, Petra, the capital of a Nabatean Kingdom, appeared. Staying at Little Petra

We spent two weeks road tripping around Jordan and one of our favorite moments was the visit of Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After exploring the great Jordanian cities of Amman, Jerash, Kerak and amazing Mount Nebo, Baptism Site and fascinating Dana Nature Reserve, we drove on the King’s Highway to the beautiful Petra. We planned to spend two nights and two days here to try to enjoy as much as possible. When you plan to visit Petra you have two options for accommodation: To stay in Wadi Musa, which is a whole town that had grown around Petra. Here you can find hotels for any budget. Hike in the Dazzling Dana Biosphere Reserve

Dana Biosphere Reserve is Jordan’s largest protected area and it is home to fascinating geology: mountains, deserts, and canyons, not to mention many plants that only grow here. Walking along roman streets of Jerash ancient city

When you think of the Middle East, you don’t think that you will find Roman ruins. But Jerash has one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the world besides Pompeii and Herculaneum. You will be able to walk in the hippodrome which hosted chariot races watched by 20,000 spectators, or Hadrian’s Arch, built to commemorate the visit of the Emperor. The site is well preserved and it’s easy to imagine the grandeur of the city that one was. We had our accommodation in Amman and only had a day trip to Jerash, which was quite close. So early morning, we picked up our rental (rentalscars.com) and drove north to Jerash, for about an hour.
